In this She & Success podcast, Tanna discusses why leader mental wellness isn’t just a personal issue — it’s a business one. Because when leaders are well — emotionally, mentally, and relationally — their people and organizations thrive too.
The world has changed profoundly — leaders today face constant uncertainty, information overload, and relentless performance pressure. But what’s new is the emotional exposure that comes with leading. Leaders are expected to not only keep the lights on but also extract higher performance from people.
They need to be strategic and empathetic, decisive and vulnerable — that’s already a huge emotional load. And they are managing not just organizational complexity, but their own anxiety and self-doubt, and they have to do that while also motivating, inspiring, and supporting the performance of others who are likely struggling with similar things too.Â
All this means that leadership today is no longer just about strategy or getting the work done, it’s about emotional resilience (our ability to bounce backfrom stress, setbacks, and emotional disruption without becoming overwhelmed) and emotional fortitude (ability to tolerate discomfort and hold steady in the face of difficult circumstances).Â
